Team Description:
The Main Street Wadsworth Design Team works to beautify the downtown, educating stakeholders about good design, motivating others to make changes, planning downtown development, and providing well-informed design advice.
- Educate others about good design and historic preservation.
- Collaborate with the City of Wadsworth to implement the Downtown Plan.
- Assist in downtown beautification.
- The MSW Design Team plays a key role in preserving the physical elements of the MSW district, ensuring a place that is attractive to shoppers, investors, business owners, and visitors.
- Encourage
physical improvements to buildings, businesses, and public improvements by:
- Educating others about good design in both public and private sectors.
- Providing appropriate advice about design improvements.
- Assisting with design-related activities that support the mission of the MSW program.
- Assisting with guiding future growth and contributing to shaping regulations.
- Helping with creating incentives for private sector investments.
- Hold monthly meetings to plan, coordinate, delegate, and implement all activities and programs contained in the yearly work plan.
- Participate in MSW events to build brand awareness and promote the MSW program.
- Assist with design improvement activity focused on preservation as it related to building maintenance and rehabilitation, new construction, signage and graphic material, and public improvements.
- Establish relationships with local design and construction professionals, sharing technical information on historic preservation, and rehabilitation and maintenance of commercial buildings.
- Promote awareness of downtown design and historic preservation issues throughout the community and monitor design changes throughout downtown.
- Monitor local ordinances and other applicable regulations affecting downtown design issues and work toward developing a supportive regulatory environment for downtown revitalization activity.
- Establish a sound working relationship with the state historic preservation office and other state and regional agencies that provide assistance in areas related to downtown design improvement through historic preservation.
- Conduct and maintain a thorough inventory of downtown properties.
- Collaborate with other MSW committees to deliver opportunities and programs that benefit MSW, its members, and the community.
- Create annual goals that support the MSW Strategic Plan.
