VOLUNTEERS:
Our organization runs on volunteer power! We love our volunteers! Want to join the volunteer team for our downtown events in Wadsworth? It’s typically a 2-3 hour commitment one evening per month. Activities can include setting up, tearing down, answering questions from visitors at the MSW table, walking around and taking pictures, passing out event flyers, dressing up in theme-related costumes for photo ops, and so much more! E-mail mharvey@mainstreetwadsworth.org with your name and phone number to get added to our volunteer roster.
NON-PROFITS:
- Want to have a table downtown during an event? You can partner with a downtown business to set up inside of a business–this arrangement is strictly between you and the business with no approval needed from Main Street Wadsworth.
- Want to set up a table on the sidewalk outside? E-mail Megan Harvey at mharvey@mainstreetwadsworth.org for instructions.
- Please provide something theme-related at your table during the event. Visitors love drinks, balloons, snacks, face painting, stickers, freebies, make and take crafts, SWAG, etc.!
DOWNTOWN BUSINESSES:
- Just be open during our downtown events–that’s it! Yay! Anything else you want to offer is awesome!
- You are welcome to host other non-profits and other businesses inside of your business—no approval needed from Main Street Wadsworth.
- If you wish (you or another business or non-profit) to set up on the sidewalk outside of your business/organization, you must give Main Street Wadsworth 30 days’ notice so you can be included on the event permit that Main Street Wadsworth sends to the City of Wadsworth for review and approval each month. The sidewalks and alleys are City (public) property, not the property of Main Street Wadsworth, downtown businesses, or building owners. This policy exists for safety reasons and also to protect our downtown businesses (who pay rent) so the sidewalks do not become a “free-for-all” during events (remember that time an out-of-town jewelry store came downtown and set up right in front of Thurber’s Jewelers during an event? Rules happen for a reason!)
BUSINESSES AND VENDORS OUTSIDE OF DOWNTOWN:
- Want to have a presence downtown during an event? Contact us for more information by e-mailing Megan Harvey at mharvey@mainstreetwadsworth.org for instructions.
- If you aren’t already, become a Super Friend of Main Street Wadsworth! Your support helps us to provide free events to our community!
- If approved, provide something theme-related at your table during the event. Visitors love drinks, balloons, snacks, face painting, stickers, freebies, make and take crafts, SWAG, etc.!
- We will e-mail you with your downtown location placement in advance of the event. You must bring your own equipment.
IMPORTANT POLICY NOTICE:
A reminder that our organization has a strict zero-tolerance policy regarding public behavior at public events: “Those in attendance at public events, including vendors, shall not intimidate, abuse, harass, or bully others. Whenever an act of addressing prohibited or unlawful conduct is determined to threaten the safety of staff or volunteers, the offending person may receive a warning from a representative of the organization, or be asked to depart from the event. In emergency situations, the incident should be reported by calling 9-1-1 and dealt with by proper authorities.”
