Who We Are: Main Street Wadsworth is a 501(c) non-profit organization dedicated to the comprehensive revitalization of the historic downtown Wadsworth business district through preservation-based economic development using the proven Main Street America Four-Point Approach. The downtown district is approximately 4 square blocks in the heart of Wadsworth, as far north as the Johnson House Museum, as far west as St. Mark’s Church, as far east as Pizzazio’s, and as far south as Central Intermediate School (CIS) and O.J. Work Auditorium.
What We Do: We are a volunteer-powered organization. Our board creates a strategic plan with goals, and our Four-Point Teams (Design, Economic Vitality, Promotion, and Operations) meet once a month to collaborate on work plans for projects that accomplish the goals in the strategic plan. Recent projects include grant coordination to renovate historic buildings (Downtown Improvement Grant, Rounds 1 and 2), events that increase foot traffic downtown, also known as “Feet on the Street” (First Fridays), a seasonal farmers market to bring the community together and promote healthy living, live family-friendly entertainment to enhance quality of life in the community (Main Street Wadsworth LIVE!), commissioning art murals to beautify, inspire, and educate, adding downtown Wadsworth to the National Register of Historic Places in order to receive tax credits for historic building rehabilitation, and so much more!
Our Structure: We are a 13-member Board of Directors representing a cross-section of the community, four (4) teams of volunteers focusing on Main Street’s “Four Points” (Design, Economic Vitality, Promotion, and Operations), Event Volunteers, a full-time Executive Director, a part-time Project Coordinator, and a part-time Farmers Market Coordinator. We always welcome new volunteers to help out at our events and join our Four-Point Teams anytime to “learn the ropes” and decide which team is the best fit!
